PAINTING

These autopoietic works are rooted in historic botanic textile patterns, graphic design principles, and color abstraction. Begun as large hand-cut paper stencils, each stencil is repeatedly folded and painted upon itself in confounding patterns. The resulting work is both the tool and the object of its own creation.

The title work from Reed Anderson's solo exhibition in Nashville , Tennessee; this artwork exemplifies Reed Anderson's quintessential cut paper and collage technique of image making. In 2023 Reed began using images from garden magazines and in 2024 they culminated in a dizzying array of new work that was seen nationally from Dallas to Nashville to New York City.
